Matt Taylor

Matt is the founder of Full Swing Tennis. Having started playing tennis at the age of 6, it has been the number 1 passion in his life. As a player he competed at the highest level of junior tennis at events such as Junior Wimbledon and Queens, as well as competing on the senior Futures and Challenger tours in doubles. He spent 5 years working for IBM during the Wimbledon Championships collecting the show court data you see on TV including 3 men’s and women’s finals. As a coach he has worked with players of all abilities from social club players all the way up to international level and has also worked in wheelchair tennis and players with learning difficulties such as autism. Matt spent his earlier coaching years predominantly as a performance coach before adding club coaching to his work, taking on Head Coach roles, developing and growing club programmes.

Abi Cartwright-Thomas

Abi’s passion for tennis began at age 8 at an after-school club which started her on the road to competing at junior, university (BUCS) and adult level where she has captained both the Ladies and Mixed teams to success for Haverhill Tennis Club. Abi started in coaching by assisting with group sessions in Haverhill as a teenager where she fell in love with the feeling of helping others to reach their tennis goals, whether that be hitting a ball for the first time or competing in matches. This has led to a successful career coaching at tennis clubs across Suffolk supported by knowledge gained through a degree in Sport, Fitness and Coaching, endless enthusiasm and a love of bringing the fun to a tennis court. Abi’s commitment to the game goes beyond coaching and into ensuring clubs and coaching programmes are as inclusive and accessible as possible with a strong belief that tennis should be for everyone. Rob Tobin

Rob found a passion for tennis coaching 18 years ago. Initially starting as a volunteer supporting lead coaches, he built his coaching profile over that time to now where he is a key member of the Haverhill Tennis Club coaching team, delivering sessions from mini red (now LTA Youth Red or as we at Full Swing like to call them ‘Ready-Set Reds’!) all the way through to adult groups. Rob is also resident coach at Thurlow and Stoke by Clare tennis clubs. His greatest coaching achievements are very personal to him - leading the tennis journey of two of his own children who reached a very high standard and found much success winning a number of tournaments. Rob finds coaching incredibly rewarding through watching players improve, grow in confidence and have a rounded enjoyment of the sport.
